Client Relations & Operations

Our History

A small family-owned Estate Gardening company that has been serving the Kitsap County area for over 20 years.

John founded Arbutus Garden Management in the early 2000s after studying Horticulture at Edmonds Community College. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, John has built a strong reputation and fostered lifelong relationships within the community. His dedication to local sustainability and green spaces has led him to serve on the Poulsbo Tree Board, where he continues to contribute his expertise to the preservation and enhancement of the region’s natural environment.

After raising their four children, Stacy began taking on a more active role at Arbutus Garden Management, drawing on her deep love for gardening and a keen eye for design. She created the Color Specialist division, which focuses on the care and maintenance of perennials, roses, and container gardens. Through this division, Stacy combines her passion for plants with her commitment to enhancing the beauty and vibrancy of the landscapes they manage. Her expertise in color design and plant care has made her an invaluable asset to both the company and its clients.

Their eldest son, Avry, earned his Bachelor of Science from The Evergreen State College, where his studies deepened his passion for environmental sustainability. This foundation helped him grow into his current role, where he now leads the Pruning Division at Arbutus. In 2022, Avry and John co-founded MicroFauna, a Compost Tea company serving the Kitsap and King County areas. Through MicroFauna, Avry applies his knowledge to improve soil health, promoting the ecological well-being of the gardens they work in.

Melissa, Avry's long-term girlfriend, joined the Arbutus Family full-time in 2021 after completing her studies at Western Washington University. During her time at Western, she gained valuable experience working summers with the company. Over time, she worked her way up, and today she leads Client Relations and oversees Operations.

Rooted in Family

Over the years, Arbutus has grown alongside our family. Each of us brings a different perspective and area of expertise, creating a company shaped by generations of shared experience, curiosity, and care.

We’re grateful to continue that work together and to the clients who have trusted us with their gardens along the way.
